I'd do comp cams, but I'm sure other guys will say other brands. It's just a matter of preference. Which company do you trust?

Yeah and that is why I want to replace them I don't want to purchase a new engine yet

As far as brand I am also thinking the Comp ones but thay have two choices the High Energy and the Pro Magnum Lifters so which ones, also what is the difference between the two? Also as I have never replaced a lifter is there any special way you need to install them?

what ever u decide to do,it will be for peace of mind that all components were replaced. lifters/p-rods/springs . springs have got to be able to handle lift. p-rods,well stock are too week for any aftermarket cam. lifters well, some say u r good w/ stock some say replace them. I just did a H/C swap,I waited till I had all the parts to replace, cause I do not want to do it again. atleast not due to failure of parts. so now I have no worries on my swap. if it fails,it wont be cause of me not wanting to do it all at once. so for peace of mind do it right the first time and u will be rewarded w/ miles of pleasure, "mentally". wait!!

I just broke a roller off one of my lifters. Needless to say it made a big friggin mess. Lodged in the cam, froze it up, then the timing gear sheared off the camshaft and went through the timing cover. This is on my C6 LS2 but its the same lifters. Comp XER lobe. Not a monster but pretty big. Ferrara Springs on MTI heads.

I think I just had a bum stocker. In doing some research, I've heard about failures in certain brands of lifter. I am not going to mention names because I don't want to start a pissing match but call some builders and listen to what they say. FWIW, I have not heard of a stock lifter failure till mine and I started researching coming up with just a few more.

One other option that was suggested to me was a set of LS7 lifters. Cheap, $135 or so, and supposed to be stouter than our LS1/LS2s. I'm not done looking into this, but it was suggested by my engine builder, whom I suspect knows what he's talking about. If it were me, I'd do LS7 or Morel

Mine have been fine for over 4000 miles, and its been hard miles. Doesn't mean I won't have a problem in the next 1 to 100,000 miles, but so far so good.

that subject is pretty tricky but if the motor has alot of miles I would at least do stock replacement. If not then just make sure the process for installing the old ones is done right. i have my stock ones and have done probably about 30 passes and it is doing fine.
