Default forged 347 questions and prices

are hpe and tsp still the cheapest, but great quality places to get a 347? ive tried getting on their sites, but cant. ive been throwing around the idea of getting one, but dont know if i need it yet. id like to bump the compression up to about 11.4 or 5 with my ls2 heads and get about 11.8 when i do decide to get a good set of heads. thoughts..comments??

They are both good places for a forged 347 short block. It all depends on what internals you want to go with to help decide which place. I went with LME in the end because of the rods and pistons choice.

The web site is www.latemodelengines.com

It recently changed from latemodelengine.com

Sorry for the confusion.

Feel free to give me a call also to discuss your combination.

Thank you,

I have seen a LME block and it was really nice. They make some of the baddest LS based engines out there. There quality it top notch! Like I said bro. I had my local builder do mine. But it would have beeen LME for sure if Pete wasnt able to get it done in time.

I'm waiting for TSP to finish building my forged 347ci. I'll take pictures and post them up once I recieve the engine so you can get an idea of their build.

347 is too small. the 402 can go in your car for close to the same price, and just think off all the new power

it's about an extra grand for a 402. That extra grand went towards my heads.

The difference between a properly built 402 and a 347 is about +/- 3K when you put heads, cam, harness, intake, injectors etc... and that is doing it on a budget.

I agree with Predator. I had thought about getting a 402 shortblock, but from the start its 1400$ more than a 347, plus you need the adapter harness, larger injectors, bigger cam, heads, etc.

One thing I contemplated was a 402 shortblock, but put my slightly ported 241 heads on it and drive it a while till I could afford good heads. The mod, Brandon, did similar with his 408 and it really made good power; it gave me the idea.

I am floating between that and a 347 shortblock from HPE.

TSP built my 347 and it is a great motor. Its N/A right now, making roughly 400/380 to the wheels w/only a F13, and that was with only 700 miles into breakin. With a FAST and touched up heads it would really make some power.

If I hadn't have gone through TSP, I would have bought my shortblock from Erik @ HPE. Not HPE, but Erik. He makes some really kickass motors.

Thanks for the input cyphur. Does Erik build engines on the side or something?
