Default Which Cam

coming to a decision on which cam to get, i daily drive it right now and will take it to the track once a month probably, want the one that is good streetability and makes the best power and has the best sounding idle (choppy), iplan on gettin 4.10s and FAST intake after this should compliment the cam nicely

Search and read the stickies.

There is no such thing as a cam that is best at all of those things. It's a give and take, you must choose the cam that meets your individual use and preferences.

Best streetability is stock. Good streetability depends on your individual preferences. I find my MS3 to be nearly perfect on the street, others (usually people who havn't driven one) tell me that it's too big to drive daily.

Best power is open to interpretation, but I'll go ahead and say T-rex is the winner there.

Best sounding idle depends on how you want it to sound. Personally, I would say the T-rex wins that category as well.

What gears do you have? Will you be upgrading? Will you get a proper tune from somebody who knows what they are doing?

Looking only at the three mentioned I'd go with the FM13.

I would say MS3, but since it's too big for you go with the FM 13.

well after readin about the MS3 and people that daily drive it, it does sound like a good option, i just dont know if the stock valve train could handle it, and i dunno if i wanna rev that high, thats killer on the gas mileage cause i know id rape it all the time

Of the three I would opt for the TR230 but i've always liked TR's grinds. The TR230 is a proven cam on stock and ported heads. The TR230 was putting down 440rwhp with good heads and LS6 intake before the F13 was a glimmer in Futral's eye. Nothing against the FM cams. It's valve events like a free flowing exhaust very well.

Do you guys think the TR230 is better then 228/228 for a daily driven C5 A4. I have long tubes with off road x-pipe, corsa indy exhaust intake, and with a 3000 stall. wich one will make more power for me. also i have 2:73 gears still. thanks

Hey stop tryin to hijack my thread deuche bag!! just kiddin man, it depends if you keep your gears or not, if you keep the 2 73s id say 228, but if you go to lets say 3 73s get the tr230, and gears arent that much so you might as well get them, ull feel a lot more power out of the tr230 w/ 3 73 than 228 with 2 73s

NO cam is going to work with the "stock" valvetrain. Even if you went with an LS6 cam, you would still need to upgrade the springs. So don't let that be a factor in your choice, your gonna need an upgraded valvetrain regardless.

Oh....my vote would be the F13 or F14.

F14 112 here, wish i had gone bigger. The driveability is all in the tune my friend

Mine drives like a dream, so much that i forget its got a 230+ cam rolling around inside, it really feels stock to me. If i did not get the cam card with the specs on it, i would swear up and down its a 224. If you live in Houston or nearby, I would highly suggest letting Chuck over at HPE plug in and fart around.

My suggestion: BIG CAM, LS2 timing chain, PRC dual valvespring kit, underdrive pulley, bolts/gaskets, and tune. You should expect an easy 400+rwhp if your throw on an LS6 intake.

Where do you live?

For power and sound, nothing could touch the TRex. You will sacrficie some driveability though. The MS3 would be a good choice if you want to sacrifice a little power for driveability. It will still have a wicked sound and make great power.

That being said, I imagine the MS3 won't drive THAT much better than the TRex, and you'll always wonder how much faster you woulda been if you had gone bigger
