A 228/228 111 108 would make great torque. With 3.42s, the key is to keep your IVC early and LSA low to make good low end and midrange torque. With a good exhaust installed you could even run a 228/224 110 108. That will give a very strong midrange and still pull to 6300. If I had 3.42s, I'd actually advance it another degree, but I like lots of low end power on the street.

If you want the max power, order them on LSK lobes (e.g. 227 and 223 lobes).
This is the kind of feedback Im looking for.

I believe the IVC is 43° on the TR230-111 and the cam has no advance. I thought about advancing it 2° giving it the IVC of 41° and the ICL of 109°.

Thoughts?

That comes out as IVC = 46* based upon my calculations so a couple degrees advance would be good.

Have them grind it straight up. When you do the swap, put in an adjustible timing change and use the chain to advance it 2 - 4*. That way if the top end isn't what you like, you can put it back without throwing the cam away.

What formula are you using for IVC?

I use the spreadsheet that has been circulating for a couple years. Looking at the formulas in Excel it is:

IVO = (duration/2) - ICL [Note: negative number = ATDC]
IVC = Duration - IVO - 180

Ok, maybe the IVC was 46...It's been a while since I saw a cam card for one of them.

Sound slike you want a mid range cam. ECS 224/230 cam is the perfect choice. Idles almost like stock so tuning is not an issue.
