I put mine in a couple of weekends ago, used a block of wood resting on top and tapped gently with a hammer - sod all use that was , then tapped gently on the seal all the way round - same result . Finally put the block of wood back on the seal, picked up the 2lb hammer and whacked the **** out of the wood - Perfect not pleasant and a little unsettling to hit it that hard, but worked so yippee!

Rgds

Mine went in without tools, fingers only. What part number are you installing? Don't damage your cover, something sounds amiss.
