If the heads were 4 years old does that mean the springs were also 4 years old? If so then that was prolly the problem. Ive ran set after set of Patriot Dual springs on my cars and others cars without the 1st problem, Id highly reccommend them. They are good up to .650 lift & come with everything you need, locks, seats, valve seals, retainers, springs. Give gunnar a call he'll fix up.

Mine were Manley springs. Who is Gunnar?

I like my PRC duals. I think they are good for .670 lift. Not sure though.

Gunner either works for, or owns, Patriot Performance. I'm not sure of his position there. He's an awesome guy.

I'm thinking since each of the 5 springs that broke had broken dampers in them, that the guy at the head shop hit the nail on the head. The dampers caused them to break. All the other springs were perfectly fine. He said its just a plain waste of time to use dampers anymore. If it wasn't for the dampers I'd still be fine with no broken springs. I'm leaving them out this time.

While this is a good start, you shouldnt drive agressively till 10 minutes after you reach full operating temp. The oil temp dosnt come up till way after the water temp does, and you want heat in those springs otherwise theyre brittle.

Also, the gold dual kits do not come with dampers.

Yup, I keep my car under ~2000rpms until my oil pressure drops down from 55-60 to 40-45psi.

Gunnar works at Patriot. As stated above the gold kit doesnt come with the dampers. So the springs were 4 yrs old though?

Just came from the shop that has my heads. The machined circles around the guides where the cup would sit, then the spring on top of the cup, are all different depths. He can't machine them deeper to make them all match because he doesn't want to get too close to going through into the ports. So he has to machine cups to make them all work. I need all new guides too, because the valves move alot when their in, too much wiggle in them.

He's gonna let me know what its gonna take tomorrow.

Thanks.

Cant beat this bang for the buck. Great springs and they take a lot of abuse!

How much should new valve guides and seals cost, all 16?
