Question can i run a small camshaft with the stock heads?

freind of mine called me up, he said"dude i can put a cam in" and i sed "dont u need heads too" he really doesnt know but is most likely sure that"no u can run it with the stock head"

guys is this possible? can i run a small cam with the stock heads or is it more complicated then that? and if this setup is possible wut cam should i get, and what gain will i see?

yes u can run it just be sure to do pushrods and springs as well

do i hav to do antyhing real extensive? i jus wanna take the old cam out and slide the new cam in...but i guess that not the case is it?

That's pretty much it minus all the little details. You'll probably get slowed down here and there when taking the car apart but overall its pretty straightforward.

any small cams u guys recomend, what can i get to make 50-75 or even 100 hp? on a small cam that is

Thunder racing TR224 or any of the other sponsor's 224 cam. Perfect for stock heads.

alrite i guessim gonna go with the 224.....but there so many 224's like i hav no idea wut the hell the other numbers mean lol i want the most gain

Read the stickies at the top of the internal section. It will explain all of the numbers and everything. There is alot more to picking a cam than you think.

jezuz christ im not even 1 pge into that sticky, thas a lotta info to soak up lol!!

and i jus fnished half of the sub discussion parts, man the tr's and comps are competitive...i dont know whos is better

do u guys know? please doont fight too

which cam fellas?

If you have emissions requirements stick to the 114 LSA - it will be easier to get to pass. The 112 LSA will make a little more power and the idle will have more "lope" to it.

To get the benefit of the cam you should really start with long tube headers.

What casey02ws6 said. And like eric01ss make sure you get the pushrods right, and CHANGE THE VALVE SPRINGS. A set of 918's will do the trick. With a small cam you can re-use the stock retainers with those springs.
