comp 918 springs
titanium retainers
tsp pushrods
ls2 timing chain
Thats what i used... the tapping seems to be coming from the drivers side... we checked all the rocker arms to make sure they were tightened correctly... still tapping... when u first start the car there is no tapping what so ever... then u drive it around the block and the tapping comes really lightly....but as time passes the tapping gets louder... it gets pretty loud... then u let the car cool off and start it up again and no noise until the engine gets warm...we used the stock lifters

Thank Goodness Im not the only one. I have the EXACT same problem but it didnt start immediately after the cam install, about 2 weeks later.
It doesnt sound like the skreeching noise like a lifter, its definitely a tapping. driving me focking crazy, i have checked my rockers as well. I gotta figure this **** out!!!
BTW I have Futral F14
Patriot Gold Duals
7.400 hardened pushrods
Stock lifters

That could be your problem right there. If you upgrade your cam (and depending on how much lift you go with), you really should get better lifters than stock....like crane.

I dont think its a lifter sound that I am experiencing, (and neither does my shop)
TONS of people have aftermarket cams on stock lifters. TONS.

it is a stock ls1, stock shortblock and heads... i dont think there should be any piston to valve clearance... i've seen bigger cams with more lift and duration with no problems?

What was your preload? I had the same taping during the same conditions. I have stock lifters, 228/228 .588/.588 114 with cnc'd 243 heads on stock 98 bottom end. 7.4 pushrods gave me too much preload. Went to 7.350=good preload, no tapping.

Most aftermarket cams have smaller base circle then your stock cam. Stock lifter like about .070 to .120 preload. As you aluminum engine warms up, the block and heads get longer (it will grow more then the pushrods). If your preload is not enough, it can start to tap after the engine warms up. I would buy a pushrod checker and do a little measuring, or at least find the new base circle of the new can and adjust the pushrod length accordingly.
