Water in Oil?
I just checked my oil a few minutes ago (Car has sat for about 4 hours) and I noticed a white substance at the tip of my dipstick when I check the oil.
I've also noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine too (Must be cylinder #5 because it's also throwing a cylinder # 5 misfire SES code.)
What in the hell is going on??
Have a blown a piston ring? Why/How would water be in my oil???
Quite a few people have told me that it could just be a blown headgasket or cracked head....
Any suggestions/thoughts/comments??? Thanks everyone. I've heard that ls1tech is the place to get good help.

Anywho...sounds like a gasket...you def want to stop driving it and it is very easy to replace the gasket now vs god knows what down the line...GOOD LUCK!

Hi
I would first pull the # 5 plug - easier to remove. Look at the plug and then do a compression test on that cylinder - 1, 3, & 5 - that should tell you if you have a problem or not. Those plugs are easy to get at.

How hard is it to replace a head gasket on an LS1? Is it something that I could do? I'm no ASE mechanic, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined. (If I take it apart, I can usually remember how to put it back together.)
