Default rocker issues

i just rebuilt my engine and added the f14 cam. i drove it around for a good 15 miles before i hear a nasty squeal coming from the valvetrain. so i took the vavle covers off to see that its the rockers chomping into the wall of the head. theyre comp cams rockers by the way, found them in the car when i bought it. anyway im guessing theyre just crapping out on me but now i need a new set and and i keep getting different infromation. most of the sites ive been searching through are debating over power gains. i just want a good strong rocker that im not going to have to worry about, not looking for a 15-40 hp gain claim like harland sharp, just something i dont have to worry about w/ my big cam, and if i gain a few extra horses thats cool too. any suggestions?

You grind the area where they are hitting. It only needs very little, nothing to be affraid of.
But are you sure they aren't hiting the cover baffle?

I'm just asking because I dont know? Can't the length of the pushrod decide where the rocker sits as well. Like if they're to long the rocker would sit up higher and vice versa. Could it be a pushrod problem?

I have never seen one of those rockers touch the head. I have installed numerous sets of them. Now you will have to remove the baffles in the covers and the casting piece that holds up the end of the baffle. If you don't, it sits directly on top of the first rocke poly lock on the driver's side.

These rockers don't "torque down". You have to adjust them to about .030"-.050" preload after zero lash.

The guide plates should have prevented this from happening. The baffles on the rocker covers are easy enough to remove by grinding off the rivet heads that hold them in place. You're using hardened pushrods, right? That means the pushrods are NOT being eaten away as well. You must be talking about cy: 1,2,7and 8, but if you have guide plate or pushrod problems all of your rocker could be swiveling all over the place. Time for some closer inspection here.

Its not your manual. They are not stock rockers. The Comps are adjustable rockers. You just torque stock rockers to 22 ftlb's, you cabt just torque the Comps.. You have to set the lash with the Comps. I think someone already said what it should be in this post.

*edit* I do believe Comp does make a non-adjustable rocker as well. Someone can chime in if I'm wrong. If they do make both adj. and non adj. you need to find out which ones you have.
