New valve covers for head swap

Hey guys, just wondering if I will have to change to corvette valve covers when putting corvette heads on my camaro, both are LS1's, the heads off the corvette are just reworked. I called a place and they said that the head swap will need the corvette valve covers and coil brackets. How viable does this sound? I figured LS1 was LS1 period.

If both heads are set up the same (center bolt or perimeter bolt) regarding the attachment of the valve covers, your old covers will be fine. If you install aftermarket roller rockers, you will have to install spacers or do some clearancing on the bottom side of the valve covers.

What year is ur car? If you have a 98 LS1, you'll need valve covers if you plan on using center bolted heads (99% of all ported/aftermarket heads).

the original heads are off a 98 corvette, whereas my car is a 2001 SS

no they arent pulling your chain, 97-98 LS1's have perimeter bolts and you have center. Additionally, The 98 coil packs mount directly on the covers but post 99 mount to a bracket that mounts to the valvecovers.

You need to get 97-98 perimeter bolts valve covers and coils to work with those 98 vette heads.

Whats different about the coils? just the way they mount? I'm kinda in the same boat only going the opposite direction, have a 98 and will soon be going with some aftermarket heads. I would really hate to have to buy new coils. I will be seriously considering relocating them, which isn't a bad idea anyway.
