Default Which one: OEM LS6 oil pump or AFTERMARKET oil pump?

Just like the post says. I am going to be installing a TREX cam, should I get the OEM LS6 oil pump (gmpartsdirect part #12586665) or an aftermarket modified oil pump like the one Thunder Racing carries. There is a significant price difference (up to $100). Which would you all do? Thanks

Go with the oem ls6 oil pump. the modified oil pumps run lower pre.

Hey Dude,

Combine your threads together instead of breaking them into 5 aspects of a cam swap. you can probably get them all answered with less effort.

People stop reading the posts after a while so I find that I get a more specific answer if I break them apart. Thanks everyone

that's cool. I was just trying to help ya out. I wasnt bitchin' or anything, although it looks like it.

to answer your question though I would say that the OEM LS6 will be worth your while, but I noticed that you wanted to look into a double roller. You consider using the LS2 timing set and just buying the chain? It would save you roughly 100$ going that route. It is good enough for the C5R, so I figure you will have a hard time ringing it out.

I just bought a double roller from a member here new in the box for 110 shipped so its a little to late to go that route =) Thanks though. Does anyone happen to know the part number for the OEM head bolts from gmpartsdirect? I'm going to wait to get the ARP studs until I do my head swap, try to save me some money here in the now.

Well, you are putting lifters in, so now would be a good time. It will save you the pain of doing it 2 times and cleaning bolt holes. So basically do it now if you can afford to go that route.

I'm right in thinking the OEM lifters will be enough for the TREX right? Many have said yes, and some, well, some have said HELL NO GO COMP R. I can get a set of OEM Lifters for less than a hundred bucks from a sponsor on here used for less than 1k miles. I imagine that would be safe, right? Or should I go with an aftermarket lifter?

Nah, If they are that new, you will be fine. Comp R's will need to be setup and everything.
