measured out at .0015.

That is too tight for an iron block application. For street/strip applications, I shoot for .0024-.0026", with the on the thrust on the looser end of the spec.

I have run them as tight as .0020" on iron blocks with no problems or exessive bearing wear. Just be careful with your oil temps though.

go with a +.001 oversize bearing if you don't want to have the crank polished up. If you have the crank polished it might come down to .002 or so. Federal Mogal makes a set of .001 +- bearings I think for STD STD.
