I just bought a tr224 cam. How can you look at at came and tell what it is by the numbers stamped on it? It has 1721 3 18 1017 on the back of it.

Call Thunder and give them the numbers on the cam.

Sorry to say you bought a 01+ stock LS1 cam. GM part # 12561721 GM cams have the last 4 digits of the part # on the end of the cam.

Yes I am. Also, every Thunder Racing cam I've seen is engraved by hand on the end with somethig like TR224 112 (what ever cam it is) and a serial #.

The cam that I bought was a stock cam that was supposed to be a tr224. I bought it off ebay. Thanks to you guys, I contacted the seller about this and he was willing to give me my money back. Turns out his cousin gave him the cam to sell on ebay. He had no idea that it wasnt a tr 224. I got my money back and all ends well. Once again thanks guys.

Glad to see you were able to get your money back. That could have turned out really bad.

yea that would really suck to think you're getting a TR224 and just end up swapping in the same cam you got.

Sometimes Ebay just isn't worth it. Support our sponsors and buy it from Thunder Racing directly. They have great tech support that will take their time and help you with any issues. I bought my TR224 from them, and I couldn't be happier with the customer service I got both before and after the purchase.

I called and talked to them the other day when I was determining that this was a stock cam. I talked with Angie, very helpful and very nice. I will probably end up ordering from them directly.

Yeah, it is good. This board really saved me. I am new to the ls1 motors and probably would have put it in without knowing. Then wonder why the motor runs the same.
