Default CheaTR Cam?

I have ordered a forged 347 and I am considering this cam. I need to smog this car before June so a bigger cam and long tubes will have to wait. My question is will this cam like headers? Or will I have to change the cam and headers at the same time? Thanks for your help
Doug

I would say yes. Patrick G had that cam, you could ask him.

Although it was designed to work with stock manifolds, a header will only help.
Think of it like adding headers to a stock cam, you always see a gain.

I have Patrick G's CheaTR cam. It definately likes headers. It's designed to make the best of stock manifolds, but shows excellent gains with headers.

Not to hijack but hows the idel with that cam i know its a high lsa is it very stock like idel with minimal effort? This cam seems like its excellent for headers since it can make stock manifold look good.

Yep, it likes headers. The idle is like stock.

If you dont mind me asking

1)What are the specs on the cam?

2)What did you gain?

I haven't been on the dyno, so I'm not sure what I gained. The specs are 215 230 601 579 117.5

The idle sounds almost dead stock at 850 rpm.
When you lower it to about 650 it has a noticeable chop.
Most people don't realize it has a cam.

Times in sig were before cam install.
So far it has been 11.77 @ 114

I also installed this cam in my 98 vette and love it. But, I have noticably more valvetrain noise. I'm still trying to get the valvetrain noise to quiet down a little.

Mine has some extra valvetrain noise also. Not much you can do about it though. It's because of the super fast ramp rates this cam has.

on that 11.77 with the cheatr what gears did you have and size of wheel and what tires...

i have been thinking of this cam since it is quiet but i dont really care about my hp numbers, i want to be into the 11.XX with a 4000 stall, boltons, Cheatr, and BFG or Nitto DRs on my 17" SS wheels.

I think it is possible to run that with a YPT 4400, ET streets and Headers/TB/induction and tune.

No cam needed.

You don't need a stall that high to get into the 11's. I did it with a 3600, and the 1.69 60ft I got was with nitto's. If you want to get in the 11's without a cam, you will need to lighten it as much as possible. Get some good 60ft's and have real good weather.
