Default Installing cam and it think if am Fu#@$

In the process of in stalling a cam in my 99 A4 I went to take the starter out and the long starter bolt broke off in the block as I went to break it loose. Has anyone ever done this and had success in drilling it out?

Small drill and a easy out should do the trick.

starter bolts are very tight, best bet is to start out small and work your way up to the correct size. need to find a tap and the drill bit the tap calls for.

they aren't hardened if that is what your after. Be sure when you drill it get it DEAD center or you will have trouble getting it out.

All, I used a drill bit to drill a hole right down the center, and the shoved a bolt extractor up in the newly drilled hole and the slug came right out smooth as butter.. Thanks for the advice all!!

On A4's you have to lock the flywheel to get the crank bolt out and stop the motor from turning. You cant just put it in gear like in M6's.

I didn't take the starter off to do mine...

However, I don't think I have a whole lot of credit right now on this board (just finished first H/C swap). If my car doesnt eat itself within the next month I'll post the cheat.
