Oil pump question, removal? no pressure?

Oil pump question, removal? no pressure?

ok, Just got my car running for the first time, idling for awhile was fine then rockers started to tick. No oil pressure. None at all. Engine was used from a junkyard. I had it all apart but never changed the oil pump.

question.. can you change it without dropping the pan? I dont remember if you can get the tube off from the front or not?

And the oil is full, anything else that could prevent any pressure im overlooking?

from what I read with my future cam install, you have to lower the oil pan about 1/2" to get to the bolt that connects the bottom of the pump to the pan. Like said I'm new with it so hopefully someone can verify what is correct to do.

Yeah you gotta drop the pan a little. it could be the oil galley plug on the back of the motor. maybe its missing it.

Yes, to remove the oil pump, you have to drop the oil pan to get the bolt out of the pickup tube. If you had the motor apart, what did you change? The O ring on the pick up tube fits inside the oil pump. It is real easy to get it kinked when you put it back together.

At the minumum, you have to drop the pan at least 1" Life would be much easier by dropping the pan and tightening the 1 bolt from the bottom.

id recomend a 10 mm gear wrench for the pick up tube bolt and u have to lower the pan otherwise ull become extremely frustrated.

i had the pan off, cut it, shortend up the pickup tube, and the heads off, thats it. Its been awhile since i had it apart. maybe the o-ring is messed up?
