Default Turbo or h/c?

Ok heres the deal, I have a certain budget I can spend so I was looking at front mounted turbos or a good h/c package with other mods. Im looking for low 11's on street tires(nitto drag radials) and high 10's on slicks. I was looking at h/c combos but none seem to prove to be as good as FI. But if I went with a turbo I would only run (11-12lbs) I would have to get injectors, fuel pump, and not to mention a good tune!! Is it really worth it? I know i could go h/c and slap some juice on it but I want the power there all the time. (even though I dont street race)

If you plan on running 11-12# of boost on the stock bottomend it's not going to last long. If it were me I'd put that money to a forged SB and a set of low compression heads and a blower cam. Then get the turbo. Just my $.02.

Where could I get a fairly cheap (nothings cheap here) shortblock? Or even a longblock thats low compression? My budget is around $5000. Or should I just buy a rotating assembly and heads then a boost cam and when im reay pull the motor and rebuild it?

heres what im doing.. i dunno if it would work for u... but i just thought id throw the idea out there...
right now im going with a H/C package with full bolt-ons of coarse... and maybe run a 100 shot or sumthing... and in the mean time i want to build build a 408 iron block motor set up to run full boost and direct port nitrous... thats pretty much what i want to do...

Yb but what he said about building a motor. I could just run what I have now and buy a shortblock, then save for heads and cam, then run probably a big shot of N2O.

You could also buy the turbo and cut back the boost and start your new build as you get money. If you go that way I wouln'd put to much into the stock enging because if it pops you might have to buy the same parts twice. Also call up some of the sponsors about building you a long block for a blower application if you dont feel you can build the moter your self.
