Default What times to expect with this CAM

I've been advised by the guy doing my head install that the cam that would work best with my setup would be a cam around the 228 area on an xer lobe. Something like a 228 595 112.
He said with this cam, 5.3 stage 2 heads, and the mods in my sig I should see low 11s. What do you all think? Does this cam sound best?

I was going to go big-MS3 or TRex-I actually already have the double roller for the install-but he seems to think that this cam would be my best bet.

OPINIONS PLEASE!

What tire and what STR is the converter, Traction permitting i could defiantly see mid-low 11s. What gear are you running? Sounds like a very good mid range cam.

4000 stall with 2.2 STR. 2.73 right now but I am planning on installing 3.73s along with the cam install.

Stock sized tires right now. I may get some E/T streets or Hoosier street tires when I do this though.

Sounds like a good setup, I could see a stock internal full bult on car with that converter and a good tire break 11s, so no doubt at all you will be mid-low 11s on that setup.

Would going slightly larger-perhaps with a TRAK cam (231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA) or the MS3 (237/242, .603"/.609) be better? Could I see 10.9x-11.1x times? Or is the 228 going to be my best bet. I'm not worried about driveability that much, just making the cam fit-that's why I can't go TRex any longer. Thanks

If your really not worried about driveability go with the TRAK, great cam. If you have any doubts just go big, you defiantly have the supporting setup to do it, could possibly see those times with a good tune.

All depends on your driving skills as well. I would think 11.6's.

Is the 11.6 with the 228 or the TRAK?

And yeah I haven't ever been to the track before so it's going to take some getting used to I'm sure.

Who's doing the install? I know a guy that went 11.1x with good heads and a 228 .581 112 cam on motor. He is now in the process of building a new motor that will be much faster. People don't give that cam much credit because its a small cam, but he proved most everyone wrong by running his times.

He's been a great help so far. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go ahead with that setup, or at least something very similar.
I'm going to try and have Patriot install the Stage 3 valves in the heads when I send them in for cleaning. This would cut back PV clearance some, so the MS3 and others are out. I expect to see mid to low 11s with this setup and the mods in my sig hopefully. After that, I'll be beefing up the new 10bolt so I can spray my way into 10s!

Yep I already have them. I haven't heard that though-I got them pretty cheap so if they are to restrictive I'll get something else.

You will just have some crappy clearance issues down low...especially if you are lowered any.

Just for the record that was a 224 581 112. It was also with a da of 3200ft. Car went 11.18 @121. 1.53 sixty foot. Thanks John. I just cant see any reason in using a to big cam that is going to do nothin more than chew up valv springs and have ill streetability. Dont get me wrong the cams make more peak power but I feel in the curve you are not gaining enought to make it worth while. On my new motor which I will just say is going to be bigger than a 347 by a decent margin is still not going to be sportin a huge cam. I am looking in the 240 range and aroung 600 lift. Once again I feel I dont need a huge cam to make good power in all the area the engin will be operatin. Hope this help you out man. Let me know what you ultimately decide. Later.
