Default T-rex Cam

I know there have been lots of threads about this cam already... but not many pertaining to the LS2...

I want to put this cam in my 05' GTO and I want your guys opinions...

The car will be driven on the street as well as on the track...

The car will have all the supporting mods (including exhaust, headers, intake, p/p tb, gears, etc.)

I want a big cam that sounds mean as hell and produces lots of hp...

I think this cam may be perfect for me... ?

What do you guys think?

Also this cam will work fine with my stock heads right? (no flycutting?)

Im not sure about the clearance thing with the LS2. You don't want to run it too tight though. I figured that this might almost be considered moderate in that motor. Very good question though.

I believe that you will lose some lowend power and some torque off that as well. You might want to consider a custom grind for your application. Is this a drag or road racing car?

considering the gto's wiegh quite a bit you might want to throw some 3:90s in the diff if you do decide to go with the T-REX.

the gto is a very heavy car, and if u look most of hte people running the trex have some weight reduction done to there fbodys, most down around 3000lbs, the ones setting cam-only records being lower than that. I dunno how happy you would be with that cam in such a heavy car

... also its made to work best with the ls1 346 engine with stocks heads, you could prolly get a cam that will take advantage of your extra cubes and higher flowing heads!

GTO is about 3700 lbs...

I have taken out my back seats, spare tire, jack, wheel chalks, And made my exhaust system dramatically lighter... along with other bits of small weight reduction....

I would guess I am around 3500lbs now... (Also I am a light-weight at only 165 lbs... )

I figured since the T-REX is a MONSTER in the ls1 it would be the perfect cam for my LS2 to be able to drive it on the street everyday And take it to the drag strip on the weekends...

Watcha think?

Go for it and let me know how it turns out! I'd love to start modding our Goat but the GTA gets all the mod money. LOL

*As for the "heavy" GTO thing... I'm getting so tired of hearing that BS all the time... GTO's weigh about 3,725 and this is the latest info I found on the '02 Trans Ams...

"3495-3517 lbs(coupe), 3605-3627 lbs(convertible)"

100-200lbs heavier isn't that big of a deal...

Exactly....its the same as having somebody with you.

I think cam will be sick as hell in a LS2. Make sure you shim the vavle springs and get a FAST intake tho

Yeah, I think the almost 4,000lb Goats can hold their own... our '05 A4 went 13.20's bone stock... its got a 12.99 in it yet. I weigh 230lbs so that's not helping either.
