Default Cam Install?

Ok I have a question about an MS3 install on my 01 Z. I have done old motors before like small and big blocks but I heard that the LS1's are pretty complicated. Is this true? Also are there any special tools that I would need? Are there any pointers or tips to make the job easier? Thanks

I haven't done one but I'd recomend reading the sticky at the top of the forum... has an in-depth install guide.

I think you meant the Crane Dual Spring compressor.

As far as swapping cams its not that hard to do

I've got experience with Gen 1 SBC's and current Gen 3/4's. I'd take working on an LS1 all day over the Gen 1 SBC!

No he means the MORE tool...It only does one spring at a time but you can do the install much faster using the the MORE tool than the Crane tool..You can buy a spring tool on here ... there is a guy that makes them that has a very low price $25-$30 I don't remember exactly..but the MORE tool by far is the best and fasted out there by a long shot.

Like said above just make sure you follow the guide and you will have no problems. Worse comes to worse and you get into trouble post your question up on here and it's almost certain someone else has been there and will have the answer.

ok lean over leverage and snag keepers at the same time, one at a time as compared to the crane tool? ok to each his own I guess

You use the Crane tool (extremely slow) and I'll use the More and I'll be drinking my third beer and you will still be doing valve springs.... I've used them both and it's no contest.. ..FYI... use a strong magnet to get your keepers when removing and a little grease to hold them when you put them back on..
