Default Patriot heads?

A friend of mine has a white SS and he ordered a patriot heads/cam combo but hasnt put it on yet. I was looking at an MS3 cam (thats the cam im def. going with) and a pair of patriot stage III LS6 heads. They seem to be good heads but does anyone have them and have any input?

The stage III heads are for 4.125" bore aren't they? I think you want the stage II's for stock LS1 bore (3.905"). ...and there must be a thousand posts about 'em if you use the search button. Try searching Dyno Results and LS1 internal forums.

Default stage III fits but ...

I found a post from Gunnar from Patriot saying they do custom chambers on the stage III to fit mane bores including the stock bore so that answers that.

my question is the difference between the stage II and III only the intake valve size or do they have better porting and flow better compared to a a stage II with a same size valve and a similar cumbustion chamber? and is the intake runner size is the same?

and for a stock bottom end to have say any ported head if with the same head and cam with 23X or 22x duration as an example is it better or worse for bigger intake valves on the same heads(maybe a weight issue) valve size of 2.055 or 2.08?

Stage 3 heads typically have more combustion chamber work than a stage 2

I've been told that the difference in patriot heads (at least the 5.3L) stages 2 and 3 is the valve size only.
The larger valves you get, the harder its going to be to fit a big cam in there.

hmmm
but still for a stock bottom end to have say any ported head if with the same head and cam with 23X or 22x duration as an example is it better or worse for bigger intake valves on the same heads(maybe a weight issue) valve size of 2.055 or 2.08?
same cam and both stages compared is there a power difference?

so the chambers might be and might not be different (other than the valves wich will affect the chamber facing the pistin area anyway) so the intake runner size is the same in both stages?

2.055" valve is too big for what you're trying to do. The car will be a pig w/ the 2800 stall listed in your sig.

You'll have about no low end. I've seen pretty impressive numbers with stock sized valves. Impressive being 450+hp

PRC CNC Ls6 heads from TSP are supposed to kick some *** with that cam. Look in the dyno section.

The stage III 5.3 heads come with a 2.055"/1.60" valves and can be used on a stock bore. Our LS6 style stage III heads come with 2.08"/1.60" valves. The CNC program on the LS6 style stage II and III is the same, but there are diferences in the way the valve bowl is blended for the larger valves. We do have customers who use a stage III heads on a stock bore motor. We have done several sets for guys like Bob at Exotic who uses them on forced induction set ups. For these we do a custom stock bore chamber that is designed for the best flow with this valve set up. For your set up the stage II heads would be the better choice.
