Just look at the cam-only ET records and see what cams dominate the top. Either T-Rex's or T-Rex clones (like LS1 Joe's).

If you had similar setups as far as converter, gearing, boltons, etc; I think the result would be too close to call. Both cams produce great numbers at the track. I daily drive my MS3 and driveability is great, but it is all in who tunes it. Bottom line is they are both great cams, and you can't go wrong with either.

Rodney is 165lbs lighter, and has a M6 with 4.56s whereas Trevor has a A4 with 4.56s. Rodney comes out of the whole a lot harder, and MPH more. I think if you put a MS3 in Rodney's car, it would go 10.25-10.30.

The Trex and similar seem to do better in an M6 car where the MS3 seems more at home in an auto. But the split on the MS3 seems more streetable. I could daily drive either with a good tune. Not sure if sound is a deciding factor for you but the T-Rex is LOUD. It sounds like a damn race car. The MS3 has a real nice sound too it but not quite as wild.

Well if you max potential out of the T-Rex then the more open the better. I will be running my stock cat-back with a cut-out to keep the neibors happy but once I hit the track, it's gunna come off.

You have never heard a T-Rex with open Y in person. Sorry but your 223/226 on a 114 is nothing from a noise standpoint in comparison. Oh and I have heard a T-rex with completely open headers and it is no joke.

I would like to add that that was one of 3 ever cam-only passes ever made in that car. We weren't as dedicated to cam-only as some have been, we didn't even know what it would run before that date. I would have liked to pull some more weight out of it and setup the suspension properly, there just wasn't the time nor care to do it right. Shortly afterwards we put a 200 shot on it and melted most of the shortblock anyway, lol.
Now that the car has a good fuel system and FAST XFI, we're thinking of doing a mild turbo setup, or possibly another Solid Roller motor, probably a 370ci setup either way.

I think either setup will get the user where he/she wants to be, as long as the combination is optimized for each cam.

well, i have a ms3 and my friend has the t-rex. our cars are close in mods although mine is lighter. once he gets his car running we might have a pretty good ms3 vs t-rex battle.
