more effort on cold starts after h.c?

Default more effort on cold starts after h.c?

Hello yall, i noticed it takes a litte more work, for the starter to start the car up on cold starts after installed the h/c. Is this normal? I am afraid that i might hurt the life of my starter

It's normal until you get a good tune. Once tuned properly, it should start like normal.

I could be wrong but adding some compression might also do it. Maybe Patrick could chim in on this. I also agree in most cases a tune will take car of this.

After i added the bbk80mm tb ontop the h.c The more effor start up issue has gotten slightly worser.

How do i fix this in the tune? I have Hp tuners on the way,and also i am running a mail order tune.

Could be how you set up the stops on the TB, i'm not shure if they are adjustable of not.

heads and cams require more "running air flow". You need to have youre tuner add more to the RAF table, then you wont have to pedal to get the car started. After letting the car sit and idle warm for a while, youre long idle trims will adjust and give you more air, but its less accurate the further away from 0 your trims get. As for the compression, your started should be fine. Stock starters dont really have much trouble turning 427 strokers with 12.5:1 compression, so im sure itll take care of your motor as long as its in good health. If the started does go, you can find new ones for just over a hundred bucks, and theyre easy to replace.
