Default LS4 Oil pump?

Has anyone tried the new LS4 oil pump in there LS1 or LS6 motor?

I don't know that the LS4 oil pump is any different from any other LS series engine (other than the dry sump LS7).

That's what I am trying to figure out. I was recommened to use that pump. But I haven't been given a good reason why. I knows it's less money than a Z06. Which is a good point. But does it flow as well. I think the only difference between the LS6 and the LS1 is the spring. I wonder if this goes for the LS4 too? Or is it redesigned?

From what I know is that the dod(displacement on demand) pumps have 30% or higher volume than that of a regular ls1 or ls6. I think that is the ls4.

Displacement on demand. Its what allows the motor to shut off half the cylinders.

Some of the new 5.3 and 6.0 L engine versions feature displacement on demand (DOD) where four of the eight cylinders shut down at low manifold pressures. This is done by collapsing the intake and exhaust lifters (special lifters with an added oil circuit to control the lifters) and shutting off the fuel. I think that it is on cylinders 1, 4, 6, and 7 or maybe it is 2, 3, 5, and 8 that are shut down. Those cylinders compress and are then repelled back without pumping any air in and out the valves to minimize the drag of the non running cylinders.

The DOD engines do have a larger volume oil pump as I recall.

Yes I was told it flows 30% more. Anyway, I ordered on. So I will see.
