Default G5X1 vs. 224/228

I have done tons of research and think I found two final possible cams. I dd my car m6 mods in sig. Dont want to go much over 6500 rpm since it is street car. I have seen some about the 224/228 but only SUTTERERMAN85 witht the G5X1. Anyone else have input on the two? Car will stay cam only maybe few suspension mods after for traction. Heard good things about 224/228 but not sure if it help a little to go bigger. I will probably get cam on 112+2 lsa. I would appreciate any comments on either.

edit: more research= between 224/228 .581/.588 112+1 lsa or G5X1 228/232 .588/.574 112+2 lsa

seems like a good cam, should work decent with the stock tune. you could wake it up a little more with some tuning tho.

it "runs" on a stock tune but it runs much much better with HPTuners

huh? Which one, and I was planning on tune just not sure if the 224/228 will be enough power so the 228/232 would be better. The G5X1 does not seem to be a popular cam, and I am not finding many numbers cam only with the 224/228.

wouldnt the g5x1 make slightly a little more power because it has more exhaust than the 228? im curious also, cuz ive been doing some research on the MTI G1 cam which is pretty much close to the G5X1..

Ya SUTTERERMANs car sounds SICK would love to have mine sound like that but I am not getting a cam for the sound that is just a plus. What would you suggest is better then the g5x1? I read good things about the 224/228 for the street as well, but I would assume the g5x1 would make a little more power... I hope I figure this out someday before gas is $10 a gallon

FWIW, I run the 224/228 0.588 112+0 in an automatic with no problems and from personal experience, you could go a little bigger like the 228/232 you mentioned even if a daily driver.

Me too. The G1 is on a 113 lsa I think. G1 is a little cheaper than the G5X1 as well.

Can you only get the g1 on 113? I was wanting to get 112+2 for the 228/232. Sounds like the vote is to get the 228/232 for little more power

I would get like this:
228/232, .588/.595 110+2 LSA (108 ICL) Comp XE-R (3724-3726 XE-R lobes)

I like the sounds of that IVO=6 IVC=42 EVO=48 EVC=4 ECL=112 Overlap=10 So predator you think the 110+2 would be ok for a dd street car? I was told by a tuner that it would be too peaky and not a broad enough torque curve. That cam does sound good though and 10 deg overlap with the true duals

back in 02 I swapped in a set of ARE stage 3 heads with there custom grind at the time in 2002(224/228 581/588 on a 110 LSA) back then with a set of SLP headers and a stock 3" firehawk catback with a 12bolt rear and a steel Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft the car made 426rwhp. I have since then added a 3" X-pipe to dual bullets,a set of stepped kooks ,and a ported Fast 90/90. I'm over 450rwhp now but think I would gain a lot with a bigger cam. In 2002 this was a hot cam but I have out grown it. This is a great street cam and has served me well at the track but if my latest changes don't get me a 10 second NA timeslip I will have a cam for sale. My car since the H&C has been a track only trailer queen so there's less than 1,500 miles on this setup

If you want it fatter in the trq then 109LSA/108 ICL, 12* overlap (42 IVC and 46 EVO), IVO and EVC equidistand at 6 from TDC
You're talking minute effects.
Would be easier to tune SD though

Ok wow I just thought lower lsa would be worse for dd car? And would the 12* beat the hell out of the valvetrain, I would probably run prc duals, but dont want to change more then every 20k. I am thinking 228/232 be ok for street and I got 4.10s so what the hell, but guess I'm still not sure on the lsa as I have heard different things such as 110lsa would be hell on the street Thanks for the help

edit: 110+1 would have same IVO and EVC just at 5 and an IVC of 43, 10* overlap?
