Melling vs. QTP HV Oil Pumps

I "believe" the QTP unit requires the use of the QTP timing cover, but I could be wrong on this. The QTP also uses some better materials in the housing. I would call Barry at QTP to confirm though, it was almost a year ago when I looked at it at Carlisle, and the mind isn't what it used to be

So I got the QTP pump and when I went to put the cover on it fit without having the clearance it at all. I thought that I might have to slightly clearance it some but it fit fine without doing anything to the stock LS2 cover.

I tried using an LS1 cover on an iron block with a rollmaster and it just wasn't gonna happen. The cover clearly hit the pump body and left a witness mark where it was doing so. I was going to clearance it but there simply wasn't enough material to make it up.
We used a Cloyes Hex-a-just and everything is fine now.
