If you are talking about taking them out and checking for straightness then yes take off the rocker arms and pull the pushrods out. To check to see if they are straight roll them on a piece of glass they should not wobble nor should there be any light under them.

yes i want to see if they are bent... Can anyone explaine exactly how to do?

I read this at ls1howto...

Before you proceed, this next part is VERY important!

Now, we need to find ONE cylinder that is on its compression or combustion stroke...in other words, both valves for one cylinder need to be totally shut (the spring will be as tall as it possibly can be, and the rocker arm should not be pressing down on the valve at all).

I dont rally understand how they mean and why you have to do so?
Other have told me to just unbolt and replace.......

This is first time for me..........please help

That's from the Yella Terra install right? That's if you're installing new rocker arms.

If you're done checking if they are straight, throw them back in, torque the arms down to 22 ft/lbs, rotate the engine 180 ( using a breaker bar and 24mm socket on the crank, leave it out of gear ) and check the rocker arm torque reading again.

yes it is.... ok so when i unbolt the rockerarms i doesnt matter if they valves are shut or open? just unbolt eitherway?

Why do i have to rotate the engine?

sorry for the stupid questions..

Unbolt the rockers, 8mm and first time they are a pain to break free. Remove the rods, check and install. On install, drop them in, install rockers and locktite the bolts, tighten to 22ftlbs, rotate engine around to make sure they are all seated etc.. and then recheck the torque. If the heads were ported previously you want to seal the intake bolts for sure or they will suck oil if the bolt hole is exposed in the runner (common for ported heads). GL

Ok let me get this right!! so after i have removed the valve covers i dont have to do anything. I can start take of the rocker arms right away. After i take out the pushrods and check. And if it is ok i put it back again. Do you have to put it in in a certain way?

And finally you put the rocker arms back in. Anything to think of here?

And then you torque down 22ibs and double check.
What about zero lash??? And do you have to use locktite?

You got it. There is now other way to put the pushrod in but one way; you'll understand when you pull them out.

When you put the rocker arms back on, make sure the rocker tip is centered over the valve; it will want to 'slide' off when you go to tighten it. Hold it with one hand , centered while tightening with the other. Use locktite ( blue 242 ) under the head of the rocker bolt.

Locktite is a MUST. I just bought car that has ported heads on it and the car was using a quart every 5-6hundo miles, no locktite on the intake rocker bolts.....Yes put it on. Big mistake for a lot of ppl.
