TSP oil pump failing?

Default TSP oil pump failing?

I jus did a head and cam swap and my oil pressure wus fine Saturday and Sunday, but today my oil pressure is really low when at idle. Do i need toreplace it?

Well, the ported or LS6 style ported will show lower pressure @ idle.

i have a ported 6.0 pump and actually show good psi about 45-50 at warm idle

hope you did not jack up a cam bearing. been there done that and it was my cam

also if you used cam lube when you installed the cam. it could be clogging up your system. change the oil and put in clean oil. i did this after 300 miles and thats when i got the 45-50 warm idle psi. before that it was about 35-40 warm.

Oh I hope there is no problem with the tsp ported oil pumps I just bought one, but however have not installed it yet. Hope its just install error, Not TSP error.

Start off by changing the oil if not done already. I see tons of install problems with the o-ring, especially so if using a double roller chain that relocates the oil pump. The spacers seem to not let the pickup tube properly center itself in the oil pump housing, I've been bending the pickup tube outwards slightly to help when installing double roller chain kits.

All the pumps in the last 2 years have been exactly the same as the next, I do about 15 a week. I've never had a pump returned where there was something wrong with it, usually its an o-ring problem. I have had 2 pumps returned and when cleaned and tested on our own personal cars they worked as desired. One of the returned pumps was in our Cam-only car when it went 10.50's.

There have been very few that have not changed their oil after doing a heads/cam install and sometimes some debris (gasket, dirt, etc.) has lodged the pressure regulator valve open, which would happen on any pump. But as far as I know, those ppl have fixed that problem by cleaning out the valve, and reinstalling it with a new o-ring and fresh oil change.

Mine actually showed 10 psi higher wether motor was cold or at temp.

5-8 psi higher in my case, not lower at idle. Ported stock LS6 oil pump.

Just returned mine as it only showed 40psi at all times, never altered. When opened it showed more wear than my 30thou mile standed one. My standed pump when reinstalled with shims showed 40psi @ idle and 50psi + when running.
