Default Maintenance after Cam

Just wondering if there is any type of engine maintenance after cam install. Last summer had a 230 dominator cam installed, with new valvetrain. So I've put on close to 8,000 miles since then. I remembering hearing about replacing the springs after so often is there any truth to this or any other type of engine maintenance?

Put in a 233*\233* .595\.595 112 LSA cam and dual aprings and upgraded the whole valve train..have 22,000 miles on it and everything is running great..if you use good parts thay will last a long time..if you want to ask a pro call Geoff and Thunder Racing and ask him about valve spring life span..

How much lift is on the cam, what are your springs rated at. I would say typical change springs every 15-20k miles.

Well the kit included Chrome Moly Pushrods, Manley Dual Springs, Manley Ti Retainers, Manley Steel Spring Seats and new GM valve seals.

The specs of the Duration/Lobe/Lift numbers I'm working on getting.

I believe its 230/230/112 0.578/0.578 but not 100% --> emailed the installer today.

It depends a lot on the lobes. I would say you'll be fine at least until 15-20k miles.

Yeah, most people last 20K or so before spring pressure begins to drop. If you drive the car hard, check earlier. If you drive mostly highway miles, youll probably last a lot longer.

Is there an easy way to determine if the springs are still good and performing as they are supposed to without having to take everything apart.

There are tools for this. Look in a summit catalog.
