spring install question (shims?)
spring install question (shims?) Was installing the springs to go with my hot cam today and I am little confused as to what I am supposed to do with the supplied shims. The spring seats that are currently on look very different. I initally thought the shims were supposed to go over these factory spring seats, but they do not fit this way.
The engine is a 2003 Lq9 6.0L from an escalade, the cam is the ls1 hot cam, the springs are the blue ls6, and the shims cam with the kit.
any ideas?

Nothing to do with the heads, it has to do with seat pressure for the springs.
If you had a cam that has more than .540 lifts, then you might wanna shim.
.525 lifts will be handled by those springs easily (1.7 rocker arm ratio)
