Default Question about cam swap and dowel rods

Can you stick the dowel rods in without removing the valvetrain? Like do the lifters have to move up enough to where the rockers can't have any pressure on them? I'm pretty sure you can but I want to double check before I start putting the valvetrain back together. I just put on the heads and I'm doing the cam later this week but I want to go ahead and get the pushrods, rockers, and valvecovers on.

I think you will have to leave the rockers off so you can spin the cam making the lifters go into the trays. I've never tryed putting my rods in with the rockers in but ive gotten the rod about half way in and had to pull it out and respin the cam to get a lifter out of the way.

WTF?? LOL....so how do you get the old cam out with all the valve train still on???

No....you can't do that....swap the cam, then put all the valvetrain back together.

5/16 wooden dowel. Cut it to length, I think 27 inches, but I'm not sure.
