Default found oil in intake runners?

ok so i just got my ls1 i took off the intake so i could check everything out and i found that the intake runners have some oil in the runners. also found that the ls1 intake has some oil on the bottum of the intake. its not like standing oil but its like a slight coaking. i was just wondering why there would be oil in these places? and also what can i do fix this problem? the ls1 is out of a 2000 ss with a.i.r. tubes to the intake.

any suggestions?

It gets in the intake from the PCV system. 2 options: catch can (do a search) or switch to an LS6 PCV system (new valley cover) with a catch can.

could this be caused by the piston rings? i read the bulletin for 2000 ls1's have a problem they like to consume oil if driven at a constant 2500ish rpm range. what is your take on this?

Even if oil is getting by the rings it would be burnt...not sent to the intake. The PCV system is whats causing the oil in the intake. Like silver bullet said...deal with it, get a catch can, or upgrade the valley cover to a LS6 (which still isnt going to completly stop it). You can also try to replace the PCV valve as GM has replaced with a fixed orifice design rather than the check ball design.

Typical problem with the PVC system. I had oil in my stock intake, and I have bought two used magnachargers from two different people that had oil inside the intake.

Yep, I had the same thing when I pulled my intake off. I have the LS6 system, and it did help but not eliminate it. I might give the new PCV valve a shot for only 6$.
