Default No Compression In 3 Cylinders!!!!

Hey, guys... got the news that I don't have any compression in 3 of my cylinders. What are some of the causes of that?

They said it was the cam... but if it was the cam then wouldn't all 8 cylinders fail?

Thanks for the response. What is a leakdown? What does it do?

It will determine if pressure is lost via valve seals or via rings.
then you know if it is rebuild time or just seal change time.

I agree. Could be rings or seals. Better hope it is seals.

how would it tell you if the valve seals are leaking??? that doesn't make much sense to me.

it would show you if your actualy valves aren't sealing, or if your rings aren't sealing. maybe that's what you said and i miss read it

Maybe I word it wrong (darn half breed that i am )
If the valves are sealing or not or if the rings are loosing the pressure.
He could have valves hanging open, or not seating properly or rings are shut.

^^^ Your right a leakdown just shows where the combustion chamber is leaking (ex. rings, valve, or to the coolant thru a blown head gasket of thru a cracked head or block)

YAY!!! 4 Cylinders busted. One of my rollers screwed up and chewed through the harden steel of my cam and stripped one of the lifters. It's great!!! Tranny busted. YAY!!! Clutch... busted!!! YAY!!!

So here I am... having a great week!!! Would this be a full engine rebuild build? If so... wouldn't Z06 parts (ie heads and clutch) be a simple swap?

I feel yah. I'm in the middle of a block swap because of two bad cylinders. Why not get a "new" assembled block & cam. Then re-use the heads, intake,...etc.? Although, if you went this route, a new clutch & trans. would be best. Am not sure about this, but, I think interchangability is from 98-2002 & then 2003 & up. So, you may not be able to mix & match w/Z06 parts. You probably could go w/ a new or used Z06 engine, clutch, trans. to replace everything you have & modify your mounts if required.
