Do not reuse the old one. The dealer is your best bet for it. Its only about $4.

Just inspect the old one and and check its condition. You should get a new one put I just replaced my oil pump with the port LS6 and it kind of pissed me off that a new OP doesnt come with a new O-ring and tried to get one at the local parts store to no avail and just reused it since it looked new and it worked fine, just be sure to get it in right and lube it good with oil before you install it.

if the o-ring has any kind of deformity to it, get a new one. it would suck to have to do the job over because of low oil pressure. the whole point of messing with the oil pump was to ensure the engine had a dependable source of oil, so why risk the whole job to save a couple bucks by using the old o-ring?

You can use the old one if it's not damaged, but why take the chance with the labor involved. Seems stupid to sell people an oil pump without a new o-ring. I don't understand that. I just got a new LS4 pump, and no o-ring with it either.

Lots of o-ring talk today....

You should not reuse the o-ring. In addition to what the other fellas have mentioned, there are two different style pick up tubes that call for different o-rings. One has a reciever groove, and one doesn't. The one with the groove needs the thicker O-ring, I think its a brown O-ring. The rest use the blue/green O-ring.

Make sure you have the right one, *correctly installed*, and it should be new!

i used to inspect them and reuse them. but after a perfect looking o ring had low oil pressure and i had to replace it. it was double the work for nothing. I know put a new o ring in EVERY time.

The LS 1 and the LS 6 oil pump have the same part number..just checked in the parts dept. computer..I work in a chevy dealer. Always change the O ring..they can be purchased at any GM dealer parts dept. It is too much work to have to go back in install another one after you button everything up and have a oil pressure issue to deal with..they are cheep and very criticle to the engines life span..

Seems that this has been discussed a zillion times??
