Default Mobile 1 5w-40 SUV

I can't seem to find this at the stores anymore so I went on Mobile 1's website and couldn't find it, but I did find 5w-30 SUV and a new 5w-40 for diesel engines. Anyone know how these new oils compare to the old 5w-40 SUV? Do you think this new 5w-40 diesel oil is just relabeled 5w-40 SUV? Thanks for your help.

Honestly running 5w-40 vs 5w-30 0r 10w-30 wont make a bit of difference in the longevity of your engine. Any of these M1 oils kickass....

Not discontinued, just renamed, and difficult to find.

Thank you everyone for your help. Now that I know it's just been renamed I might be able to locate it and if not I'll have to try something else. I'm not dead set on running Mobile 1 products it's just it was easy to get from the local Walmart or auto parts store unlike GC which I could never find anywhere locally. I guess tomorrow I'll be hunting for oil and if I can't find anything locally I'll check into Amsoil, Redline, or RP. Thanks again!

Thin isnt necessarily bad, in fact it can be very good. I just go by my experience running it in real world engines. For instance, you could switch to 20W-50 and while the engine will run even more quiet and pressure will increase substantially, you are actually doing more harm to it on startup which is when virtually ALL WEAR occurs. The reason is because the oil is slower to get to vital parts on startup....

Thats all Ill say, because honestly its not going to make a noticable difference either way.

I just find it weird that so many people have run M1 5w-30 for so long and I haven't seen any engine failures or problems directly related to it. Sure, GC is better in terms of longevity, but M1 5w-30 is by no means a crap oil. If you look up comparisons online, virtually all of them rate it 2nd or 3rd best out of all tested high performance oils with GC and amsoil usually beating it out. Don't get worried using it, it's perfectly fine and won't harm your engine, there are just better oils out there if you are going to run it for an extended period of time (beyond 3k).

Over on the VW forum, the word is at the 5w30 T&SUV is out now (I've seen it) and the 5w40 turbo diesel will be out sometime in June or so. The rumor has always been that the 5w40 is repackaged Delvac 1 (big truck oil).

Well I checked all over and couldn't find what I wanted so I guess I might try something else like Castrol 5w-50 or perhaps Castrol or Mobile 1 10w-40 if they make it. Any one have information on the Castrol Syntec 5w-50 regarding how it compares to other popular oils out there?

5w50 is too thick for the LS1. There is no need to go beyond a 40wt oil in these engines.

Not a good oil at all, it's not a true synthetic and it's very thin (and thins out even more)
