Default 402 Stroker....need piston advice...

I have a new GM 6.0L iron block(LQ4), w/a 4.000in forged Eagle crank, LS6 '02 cam, and LS6 heads (65cc) for my Silverado Engine swap. What size piston(s) should I use if I want a daily driver (NA).?

Really depends on what you want your compression to be.

Pistons will be 4.00" bore. That is the bore on the block, so maybe 4.005"
Someone else will chime in I am sure.

I'd like to know what size dish ( -6cc, -12cc, -29cc, etc...) would work best for the engine (NA) I'm building.....in other words, what size piston would get me in the neighborhood of a 9:1 to 10:1 CR? ...

Not 100% accurate, but you can get close.

Thanks for the link and -12cc advice! This helps alot, now I just need the rods and an LS6 intake manifold. I plan to have my machine shop put the lower end (402ci) together...and do the top with my brother in-law(certified mechanic). Bsically swapping new stroker into 2000 Silverado (5.3L)...bolting on external parts to new 6.0L. ...want to get 400+ rwhp with NA...but would like to have FI options later.

Any reason you want such low compression and miniscule cam? Big cube motors take a lot more cam and compression than a 346 does.

No problem.
I am running 11:1 with -12cc pistons and 62cc chambers. Thinner gasket.

GuitsBoy,
Thanks for the feedback, I'm considering low compression CR in case I want to add FI later....just not sure what to do with that. As far as the cam goes, the LS6 02 cam has a .055 lift 218exhaust 204 instake....117.5 LSA, I've read that this cam is probably GM's best designed cam ...my truck is a daily driver so I want some streetably manners....what cam would you suggest?...

For a 402, I really think that cam is way to small. I would call some reputable sponsors and talk about a custom blower cam that will handle low compression N/A well before you go FI. I dont think theres any off-the-shelf cam that will suit your needs exactly. Have some shops spec out a cam based on your goals for the car and have them quote you a price. It wont be nearly as cheap as the ls6 cam, but then again it wont run out of breath by 4800 rpm.

Good advise....definitely worth investigating more(thanks)...right now I have just about everything I need except the rods, pistons, intake manifold (and now possible a more aggressive cam). Having never done this before, the anticipation is driving me crazy....I'll probably schedule a week off of work to get this done once I have everything ready...I'll provide updates at a later date. Thanks again.
