Default GMHTP: Edelbrock Heads = 54hp/41tq

Did anyone else see this? Car put down 306/317 before, only change was the heads themselves and they made 360/358. Pretty impressive.

I do notice how the Edelbrocks and Darts dont ever get talked about. I haven't read the whole article yet, just saw they did the swap and went to see the results... and thats what they read.

After the top half of the motor was put back together, the oil was changed, the radiator was refilled, and the TA was strapped to ESP's Dynojet. The Chef's new receipe made just shy of 54 horsepower and 411 lb-ft of torque without changing a single component besides the heads. Peak numbers went from 306.4 (SAE) to 360.3 rwhp, and 317.5 to 358.7 lb-ft in the six-speed TA.

Wow! So the cam was the same before and after, but was it the stock cam? If it was, those are some nice numbers!

Good stuff right there, now!

I'd imagine those heads and Patrick G's cam would put a big grin on your face.

I have a set of E-tec 200cc on a 383ci SBC they looked pretty nice when I was putting them on the motor and should see (and feel) them in action soon. I got a baby on the way and alot of stuff left to do on the truck before the motor go's in.

I think they then went on and put that cam in with edelbrock headers. P26 shows the results with 224/228 0.569/0.572-113
426/403 at 6300 and 4700 repectively. Not bad from the 306/317 start point.

around 2300.00.i would like to see someone from the board run a set and back those numbers up.not knocking the heads, but i don't think everybody would gain 50+hp from just the head swap alone.

Well though it doesnt specifically say for just the head swap they do say they used ls1edit for the final tune. Its possible it was used for the initial swap as well though it reads as though it was running 19 deg total for the heads only power run.

They said $2300 for a set. Those gains were from the HEADS ONLY with the STOCK CAM. They then added a set of Edelbrock stepped headers and a 224/228 cam and got 420rwhp out of it.

Thats a good gain but notice that the final numbers with headers and cam are average for a heads cam setup.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.. and the AFR's are basically the same price and would normally put down better numbers than that..

Summit lists them as such:

65cc chambers
202cc intake runners
83cc exhaust
2.02 I valve
1.57 E valve
With the springs shipped on the assembled heads maximam lift is .600

2300 dollars for the set, no core charge.
