Default AFR 205 with comp cams 232/240 112

I am getting ready to take the jump and do heads cam on my car, looking at AFR 205's with a couple of cam options...

SI5 231 237 .589 .595 112
SI6 232 240 .595 .610 112

I want a bigger cam, it is mainly a weekend/track driver.

Any one have any opinions or suggestions on this setup?

Thanks!

Ed

I agree. You should mill them to get your DCR in the correct range. Also, I'd recommend finding out what your piston to deck height is and use either an .040" or .045" gasket to get a tight quench. You may have to notch your pistons though with that tight of an LSA and a good milling. If you get it all set up correctly I think you'll be seeing over 450rwhp.

I really wanted to avoid fly cutting since I have no idea how to go about it LOL. I was ordering the cometic gaskets with the heads though. .030 milling should get me down to 59cc right?

With either of the cams you mentioned in your first post and a milling of .030 on AFR's, you'll need to flycut.

Here's a how to for flycutting:

It's not that bad from what I hear.

Ok, going with the AFR 205's, .040 Cometics, and a G5X3. LG recommends fly cutting, so I rented the cutter. Hope to have results up soon! Everyone cross your fingers and wish me luck!

I am getting ready to have my LS6 ported heads installed this week. Here is a current Dyno sheet.. i am running an RPM4 cam ( 232/236 .595 .601 114).. bolt on's, stalled A4.. My heads are brand new 243 castings ported by a local racer.. RPM is a local shop in Dallas.. I can't wait to get these installed..
This is on my daily driver by the way..Good luck...
