Need a better Cam
Need a better Cam Well I install H/C and headers and intake manifold over the winter and thus far am not very happy with the results. The car idles great and is nice as my DD but I'm not happy with the 1/4 miles times or performance at all. I feel this may be due to the small cam I have and the Heads and intake not working well together. I feel this setup would perform much better with a larger cam and am looking for some input on which to get if I do decide to swap. I will be having the car retuned and it will remain mostly a DD but I still want to be able to take it to the track and run 11s consistantly on DRs. Right now the car only traps at 111mph but usually 110 on average. I am leaning towards the MS3 cam for my application what do you guys think?
Since your at 207/220 and want to step up, I'd personally go to around 228/230ish with 595ish lift. See how that works for you and then possibly go to a TRak cam. Be careful of overcamming and PTV clearance when stepping up to a bigger cam though.
For my ported 243's I'm looking at having Thunder do a custom cam of around 226/230 with .600 lift both intake and exhaust on a 112. I do a lot of street driving and don't want something that's a dog down low.

Well I also don't want a complete dog down low but I figure the stall will help that and if the tune is right this cam should work fine as a DD. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

WOW, looking at your sig, I guess that number depends on where you get it dynoed. If at the same place, and the only difference the new cam, I'd WAG about 20-25 more rwhp.
What about track numbers this combo I have run a best of 12.85 at 110mph on a 2.1 60' obiviously traction has a lot to do with it but the mph is not there at all.

with thia cam youll put down 430rwhp easily and have a nice torque curve that you can use on the street.
Thanks guys for all the responses so far, my only other question would be is there any downfall to going with a larger cam such as a MS3 or Trex ect. I'm kinda set on going pretty big if I'm gonna do the swap and the car will be redynotuned and everything, but will it not be very streetable? I have a car that I can drive everyday and I also drive it in the winter, which I'd be willing to drive a bit more frequently if I had to. Any opinions on this?

The heads have not been milled I bought then off a friend who never used them and as far as I know working with ETP on the install they were off the shelf. My times are horrible and this is my point I have had the car professionally tuned any everything and still it doesn't run to full potential. The most input I've recieved from everyone was that my cam is too small to take full advantage of the heads and intake so that is my next step.
find out how much ptv clearance u have with those heads then take a look at the new magic stick version 4. Thats if u have the mentality since u are going to go bigger .However your stall might a little small for that cam,also what size gears are u planning on running?
Car has the stock 3.23 gears and once I get a 12 bolt I plan on running nothing more than a 3.55 or so, maybe 3.73s but I dunno for sure. How much bigger would be ideal for a cam as large as this one, does it really not make any power below 4K?
