Default NEED HELP, ms4 or trex

I have a 346ci ls1 2000 TA and I have stage 2 heads, shortie headers, 3.73 gears, SLP loudmouth, SLP cold air induction, and a 224, cam. I am going to put a bigger cam but I dont know which to get between the trex or the ms4. I hear good things about both but I cant seem to make up my mind. I also plan on running a 4400 stall when I get the bigger cam. does anyone have any good advice?

I can't give any great advice as I just ordered my MS4 yesterday so I can't tell you anything about it until I get it running. You are looking at the right stall for the MS4. Bryan @ TSP told me a 4400 stall for the MS4 but when I told him I was spraying he said to run a 3800. If you are staying N/A then go with the 4400 if juiced I'd run a 3800. Have heard great things about the TRex but decided to go MS4 myself.

The MS4 seems like the latest off the shelf craze...but I'd go with a custom grind to match your heads if you have the intake runner size/flow numbers on them.

I have seen a lot of impressive numbers/times put down by the TRex. There's really no way to give you any advice on what to do just yet as there are no real numbers/times from the MS4 camshaft. I imagine it will be pretty close though. We'll just have to wait and see.

It puts down good numbers on an engine dyno tested by the people who are trying to make money off of it. I meant REAL numbers put down by the people who spent money on it and went and got it tuned. NOT numbers put out by the distributor.

Word.
Not knocking TSP by any means, but real world numbers account for A LOT in my book. Can't wait to see some track times with the MS4 and stg. 1 cnc'd ls6 heads.

All the dyno testing was put together to keep consistent numbers between cam swaps for GM High-Tech Magazine. It's not like we changed the numbers for the internet. You can check out the article on the testing for yourself in a few months...

I'm not saying you all changed the numbers. However, some car's are flukes. I was just saying that before a fair comparsion could be made between the 2 cams there needed to be some more real world testing.

I agree, some cars just dyno better than others. I have seen cars come in with 300 RWHP with bolts on and I've seen cars dyno 350 RWHP with the same parts. However, a camshaft is a camshaft and if it picks up 70 HP in one motor, it will do the same in the next one as long as the supporting mods are the same. Yes, your car might not dyno the same as the next one. We chose to do an engine dyno to show what the cam will pick up by simply changing from a stock camshaft to the MS4. We have sold numerous MS4 cams so the real world numbers are coming. I'm sure we will see similar results!

You should see some MS4 results in the next couple of weeks from me. I am sure I will be happy with the outcome.

MS4 hands down.

Spec.......................MS4...................T-Rex

.......................Intake Exhaust Intake Exhaust
Duration @ .050" 239.....242.........242.......248
Valve Lift............0.649..0.609.......0.608....0.612
LSA...................111....................110

In most cases the MS4 should make better power down low and better average power. I'm going to run one in a stock LS6 with a victor jr. efi intake 90mm TB, and coustom stepped headers. I'm going to try to make at least 450-460 on the motor.

Trex is low on tq....Back that duration up a tad and raise the in/ex lift and you get a better performer all around. Still a top end performer, but you have an MS4 when you do that. I bet that it has better table manners than the rex too.
