I've been looking at some posts regarding the use of comp R lifters (875s) and how they are not recommended for stock rockers. Would they be ok to use with a set of non-adjustable Harland Sharp 1.7 rockers?

People say dont run the comp "R" lifters because they dont set the preload on them right. They need .010 preload, you can do this buy buying custom length pushrods or using adjustables rockers. I've been running the comp's for some time now and never had a problem.

Easy way is to just do a search on the morels and youll see they are highly recommended.
The comp-r's do have to be set up perfect to a T for that reason I wont run them alone. Unless its a solid roller cam I dont want have to worry about them being that exact.

The Morels were designed specifically for aftermarket cams and the lsx motor. They have a different internal check valve setup and a slightly larger roller. They are also a little longer so a one for one swap will require pushrod changes. I don't have experience with the Comp R's, but Comp and everything I have read says you need adjustable rockers to get the preload right. The Morels are a little more forgiving, but not as forgiving as the stock ones. A lot of the offshore power boat guys run Morels, they will take higher spring loads and constant high RPM abuse. They are expensive, but made in USA and very high quality.

I have been running Comp R's and Harland Sharp non adj. for a couple seasons now with no issues. 7200+ rpm and over 25psi. Set them up right and they work great. Just ordered another set of R's for my new motor.
