Default 402 advice needed......

I'm looking at replacing my LS1 with an LS2 402 with -2cc pistons. I have AFR205 heads milled to 61cc right now, what compression ratio am I looking at if I use my old heads on the 402 strocker and will it be to high? Thanks

Assuming the pistons are .008 out of the hole and you're using GM MLS gaskets at .052-.054 compressed thickess, you're looking at somewhere around ~12.5:1. I certainly wouldn't run that high of SCR unless you plan on using race gas. Upper 11's is the highest I'd run on the street with 93 octane and even that might be pushing it depending how hot it gets where you live and how good your tuner is.

What about pistons with -14cc?

Hmmm.. Ok let me ask this: my AFR head and cam LS1 is smoking so I want to put something bigger in its place but would like to use the heads I have. If you had a budget of $5500 and wanted another killer street setup what would you do?

I used -12 Mahle pistons with 61cc heads. The Mahles are .010 out so it comes out to 11.3 which nice quench using .045 gaskets. Like you, I wanted to keep my heads.

What you really need to do is determine what cam you will go with, then calculate where you want the DCR to be and how much static compression is needed. I would talk to some of the engine builders of the short blocks as well as some of the bigger tuners that have put these packages together and get a few opinions. You only want to do this once.

Still have not decided on a cam but I'm looking for something that will perform like my 224/228 did on my 346. I will more than likely use a 402 with -14cc pistons, .045 cometic gaskets and my 61cc AFR 205's. I have already ordered a fast 90 that I will have ported and will likely go with 42lbs SVO injectors. I want an all around street car that will see the track every other weekend drivability is important. Any opinions would be apriciated

Same here, but my heads are 62cc, so I am just a touch lower.

Ask PatrickG, he is good at figuring the DCR with the cam and he can tell you how to get as close as possible to the magic 8.5 to 8.8 desired DCR for pump gas (depending on octane available).
