Default MS3 or FM13

I know the two are a bit different but I have been debating the past few weeks on which cam I really want. Right now I have a stealth cam thats good for nitrous, but I dont have nitrous so it doestn do me any good. So I have decided the car will be a cam only car since Im in college and dont have a ton of $$. Which would I be happier with? thanks

Personally, cam only I would run a G5X4, TRex or an MS4 over any of the ones you have listed. But, since there are only those 2 choices I chose the MS3!

Edit: N20 is cheaper than a proper large cam only setup. I would budget aside at least $1000 for the cam and supporting valvetrain mods (dual springs, timing chain, oil pump), another $300 for gears and install (4.10s in an M6) and another $500 for the tune. If you don't do the install yourself on the cam or gears I'd add another $1000 to that.

Really I think either one would be a good choice. You want/need some gears to go with both. Both cams are proven performers. I chose the F13 mainly because it has the reputation as one of the best all-around street cams out there, also because my tuner highly recommended it to me. This poll should probably stay split about 50/50 because they both are so popular

Another thing to think about: Count on at least 2-3 months waiting on your cam from Futral. 10-14 day wait period? HA!!

Like stated above. The F13 and MS3 are both proven cams. I personally run the F14 and couldnt be happier! You wont be dissapointed either way. I think that the F13 would probally be more street friendly than the MS3.

Are you looking for more performance at the track or the street?

track -> MS3 (if matched properly, it can be a mean 1/4 mile cam)

street -> F13 (I have it, and I looooove the powerband)

Without gears and heads the ms3 is gonna leave you wanting more in terms of streetability IMO. Go f-13, it was a great cam when I had it.

Don't buy it used

Seriously though, I'm sure if you searched on here there might be some info on the cam card or something that would let you know if it was good or not. If not, maybe Futral could check it out for you before you purchased. If the person was serious about selling it they shouldn't mind doing that for a sale. Good luck

If its used, youd see damage to the cam. Look for worn down spots where a lifter cut a trench over the lobe, look for pitting, and look for ridges a little finer than a record.

I say the F13. I personally have a F14 in my Z06 and love it. I daily drive the car and it still gets great gas mileage if I keep my foot out of it. The cam has great power all around and runs like a beast!! I noticed the Futral cams seem to make more torque than the others. That new high lift is a beast making 10hp and 10 tq over the F14 in my car.

I voted F13 because it has good street manners and makes good power but then again I am a little partial

well heres my personal experience... when i ordered my f13 it took about 6 weeks to get to me. Personally for me, this was completely unacceptable and f***ed up the start of my driving season... Now if you can wait that long and dont mind then by all means go with the f13 (great cam, decent power). However, if you want this thing in before the end of the summer you may want to look elsewhere

and dont start bitching at me about how much futral has helped the ls1 community and all the great products he does because the bottom line is their customer service sucks, with a capital S

LOL yeah I have heard they are a little lazy on the customer service side, and I work retail and CS is everything. But unfortunately in the auto performance world people can be real "shitty" in the CS area do to the fact that people will still by it almost no matter what. Thats why these clutch companies can charge $400+ for a damn clutch when in reality it doesnt cost half that to make. Sorry I almost hijacked my own thread.lol
