Lifter or bearing I have an 01 Camaro that was just rebuilt (honed, all new bearings, crank turned, new valve springs, seals, and cam). It was started for the 1st time on Friday. Ran fine all day Saturday and Sat. night. Went on a 25 mile hwy. cruise Sunday and it developed a knock from about 2,000 rpms on up. Nothing at idle. Oil pressure is still 40 psi @ idle and climbs near 70 in the upper rpm range. The noise seems to be coming from the front of the passenger side vavle cover or possibly under the intake. Noise is barely audible from underneath the car. Any thoughts on the culprit???

The lifters will be filled with oil after a few minutes. Is the knock from the top,, valve train, springs, pushrods etc. Or from the bottom, rods, pistons.
Let's hope for valve train noise. Pull a cover off and look for a broken spring, or rocker arm that is not on right.

The knock was definitely up top. Well I pulled the pass. head and everything looks fine. Here is the kicker though, I pulled the oilf filter and cut it apart and it had small silver ang gold particles. Bearing material or is it from all of the new parts and the break in. The engine only had about 150 miles on it.

Well I pulled all the bearings out and the all have worn to some extent downt to the copper. These are clevitee 77s with roughly 150 miles on them. the #1 bearing was chewed up pretty badly which was more than likely the culprit. I measured my crank diameter @ the journal and it was 2.090. Stock they are 2.099 I am wondering if there wasn't enough clearance. I am using the ARP Pro 2000 series bolts. This is the 2nd time I have had a spun bearing since the install of the bolts. Only 2500 miles on the previous run.
