Default 6.0 vs LS1 heads

Do the 6.0 heads flow more then the stock ls1 heads, And what is the combustion cambers between the two, I can get some 6.0 heads for 200 brand new, would it be worth it to have them milled and put on over the stock heads? Thanks

If you are talking the LS2 6.0 heads (243 casting), yes they flow better and have a smaller chamber than the 241 LS1 heads.

The 6.0 truck heads will flow better than a 241 head. Keep in mind that the 6.0 truck heads have a larger 72cc combustion chamber. So if you are looking at a set to replace your 241 castings, you will have to have them milled to get back to your stock compression of 10-1.

how will the engine run if you dont mill the 6liter heads? and stay with the 9.4:1 compresssion that it will create.

also is it worth swapping ls1 heads for the 6 liter head on a bolt-on ls1, is the hp gain worth it!

It depends on the cam. Head flow is the most important, compression loss will hurt if your cam is too big. The right cam will keep your cranking compression up and will not hurt so much if any. Id mill the 6.0 heads, it is not like it is hard to do or expensive just watch valve to piston clearance especially if the cam is very big.
