Since we're talking about higher revving and the sort, here's a question from my own observations, how acurate are your tach's at higher speeds? I notice my '00 WS6 tach has two problems, (1) at higher rpm it's pretty well short of actual rpm (my limiter it at 6200, car bounces the limiter at an indicated 5900), and (2) the tach seems awful slow to respond when the car is shifted hard/quick. This is especially noted during the 1-2 upshift where 2nd is such a short gear and it seems like the tach is still playing 'catch up' by the time I run out of gear. Anyone esle have this issue or are we all using aftermarket tachs?

My car is a mid-late 2000 model . It has the 241 casting cylinder heads . My car did not come with a LS6 intake manifold { I doubt any 2000 came with one ??} - does this make a difference in what went into the shortblocks? Thinking Zo6 came out in 01 , it made the LS6 intake possible --> 01 cars have that + better rodbolts .. Hopefully the stronger rod bolts were used as early testing for GM, but I have doubts .

Digging up old thread... just installed an G5-X2 cam kit w/ 921's and new yella terra rockers.... set rev limiter at 7000 rpm... HP flat from 6600-6900 dips to 7k. I'll be shifting at 6900 at the drags... and 6200ish at HPDEs like normal.

i have many buddies that spin to 6800 quite effortlessly with just 918's
i will be spinning mine to 7k and i was looking at rod bolts and it says $80 for ARP's....is that one bolt, or the set?

This is what happens to your motor when the stock rod bolts break ... ... Katech rod bolts are $153.60... which to me sounds like very inexpensive insurance compared to the cost of replacing the short block .. I am not saying that you can't rev to 7000 rpms or whatever you want to set your rev limiter too ... but sooner or later what is pictured above will happen .. so in the end the question comes down to how long do you want to roll the dice???..

I could be wrong, but I remember 'LS1Joe' of t56rebuilds.com saying that he rev'ed his stock bottom end H/C car to 7800 with stock rod-bolts and stock lifters...
So.... I dunno...
