PRC Terminators or PRC LS6?
Are the Terminators worth $1k over the LS6? Looks like someone has already had good results with the Terminators, but I don't get the price difference? I like the idea of a small runner to keep bottom end, but without seeing a dyno graph of that I'm skeptical. My car is stock with LT's and a catback, but I have a MS4 waiting to go in whenever I get back in town. Might as well throw heads on at the same time with an intake an TB (it's only money, right?) but do you guys think the Terminators are where its at?
Thanks
Thanks
For what its worth, I am going with the MS4 and the LS6 heads. From some of the dyno sheets I have seen, the Terminators will get you prob 30-35 at the wheels over the LS6 with the 90/90 setup. I just cant support the price right now. But these are just to hold me over till the big day where GMR drops in the TT and new motor.
The price differnce is the Edelbrock castings the Terminators start with versus the LS6 castings. I would love to have the MS4 and Terminator heads, but funds are not in line for that right now. I will make due with a cam only setup for now. It leaves me room to grow latter.
There are many advantages to the PRC Edelbrock heads. Some of the main ones are: bronze guides, highly developed ports in which "dead flow" areas have been filled to improve velocity, Much thicker everywhere which allows for future modification for a big inch engines, much higher quality aluminum which is less prone to cracking and porosity problems, they are easily welded opposed to the relatively poor aluminum of an LS6, and last but not least the Edelbrock is more of a performance oriented head. I am not saying the LS6 isn't performance oriented but GM has to make emmisions and fuel economy a top consideration when designing thier heads.
I see what you guys are saying, thanks. When you say they can be opened up for a larger displacement motor, what do you mean? The intake runners, or the combustion chambers. And how much are we talking about here?
Both the runners and the chambers. I know PRC is working on larger runner Edelbrock heads. I am sure if you wanted to go larger you could send them the heads and have the larger program run through them. I am not positive they would do it but I am pretty sure they would.

Both cylinder heads work really well! Power for power they should make very compareable power up top, with more low end from the small runner head. The nice thing with starting from Edelbrocks castings is we can build a 58cc chamber on them without crazy amounts of decking.

No I don' think the difference would be anywhere near that. Keep in mind the LS6 heads make power with the best of the cylinder heads. The cool thing about the Terminator series heads is the small runner & small chambers

I would have to disagree about that, I talked to TSP today and they said that the both would peak around the same numbers with the same setup. Your not going to see a 30-35 rwhp difference
#'s and mods are in my sig...I went with the 233/239 and the LS6 CNC'ed heads with the comp valve job...
Made 430rwhp on a very unfriendly dyno day...90+ degrees and high Alabama humidity in June...tuner said it might still have some left in it on a good day...
Can't say enough good things about TSP...awesome customer service and great products. I'll be going back to them in the future I'm sure!

And as Jason said, with the smaller runner, you'll have a better bottom end than with a larger runner.
I will admit that I gave up some low end for the nasty top end hit I have now...
Car still moves good thru out the range, but you better hold on at 4k...

Why the heck won't you flycut?
I would go with the Terminators. You will have similar peak numbers but you will have a much more attractive curve. You will pick up power everywhere but up top with the 200 runner.
