Default Motor Pull Issues

The motor is unbolted from the tranny. What is the best way to get the motor out? I don't see alot of room between the oil pan and k member. How far forward will the motor have to be to get the input shaft clear of the motor? Also is there a special tool to get the bellhousing bolts undone. Any help or tricks will help

Are you trying to take it out from the top?

If so, and you already have the tranny unbolted, you'll have to remove the alternator and A/C compresser so you can get the long bolt out of each motor mount. Then it should just be a matter of making sure all the wires are disconnnected and some good trickery with the engine hoist to get the motor out.

To get the bellhousing off the trans requires a torx bit, but I don't remember what size.

Yeah the motor is coming out of the top. The starter is out and all of the components (A/C) and stuff is out of the way. Thanks for the help.

As of last night the motor is out! Had to remove the pass. side motor mount from the K-member. It came out pretty nice for the most part. Only issue or problem is that I broke the coolant temp sensor off on the block. I removed it from the block and everthing is okay with the block, how much does one of these go for? I'll post some pics later today or tomorrow.

Next step is to take it apart and see what is wrong. I'm hoping the crank is okay, not sure.

I think they are like 16.00-20.00 from GM (but that may have been @ my cost)? I cant remember though I had to buy one awhile back for my 98 T/A.

I'm going to need to get new bolts for the bell housing and some other access also. My Y pipe is also a concern but reuseable. I need to rap my headers about mid way cause the road/weather has taken its toll on them.

The motor is down at the builder shop waiting to get pulled apart to see what is wrong.

Looking forward to reinstall I will probably pull the tranny to make it easier to attach the motor/trans then bolt everything up as a unit. Other ideas on that, I pulled my motor from the top. I will enclose some pics, I have never been happier when the motor pulled free (the pics show it, also the 5.0 in the pic is a 12sec piece and the owner basically made this motor come out).

That's odd... I was replying to one of the new posts last night... Must've scrolled too far into an old thread, thanks for the heads up, I'll get it removed
