The LS1 is actually banned fom Engine Masters.

Does coating the pistons or bearings help at all with detonation resistance? I know a super tight quench and a good tune can help this. Also, the double quench pad of the new aftermarket castings seem to be designed to help reduce detonation.

If it's still detonating, put some Torco in it (I think with the price of gas, one could almost fill up on Torco now for a similar price).

It all helps a little and most of those guys were using all the tricks they could. I'm just saying that you do have to be careful as too much compression is worse than too little as far as reliabilty goes.

I'm not trying to rain on everyone's parade as compression is very important but I hate seeing people build stuff that might give them problems later on.

ok more info about the car : 4.3 rear end ratio ,5500 ATI, th400 28 slicks, all bolt ons , weight 3100 bl w/ driver. i was thinking ~16hp and ~20tq is not bad and as you can see the car will be a race only and we will use race fuel.valve rel. -2cc .

So should i mill or not?
